The Eighth Arrow

Matt Fradd had interviewed Fr. Augustine Wetta back in late 2023.  And it was a far-out-there interview...  since I normally only listen in the car (I do not watch the interviews on youtube) it was fun to think about what Father looked like since he comes off as a surfer dude.  Fr Wetta is an unusual bird, but as strange as the interview was I walked away with a big smile.  And I could not resist buying the book he had recently written --- you guessed it, The Eighth Arrow.

The book takes place within Dante's Inferno, and we follow Homer's Odysseus as he travel's through hell.  Dante's divine comedy has always stuck with me, and if you have not read the great poem, don't worry you will not need to as it is easy enough to follow along.  It is a great introduction to the different levels of hell that Dante has offered us.   I think my son Gabe would enjoy and will probably encourage him to read this upcoming summer, but just as fun for adults.

My goal continues to be adding fun and imaginative books from Catholic authors whose faith is imbedded in the story.  Fr. Wetta certainly provides!  You can find his interview here.  For those not on Spotify it is titled Crazy Saints, Liturgical Movements, and Handling Disagreement with Fr. Wetta Dec 2023 - on Pints With Aquinas.  It's in the library and waiting for a beach day near you!
