It Happened on 5th Ave

"For to be without friends is a serious form of poverty"  ---Aloysius McKeever

Looking for a Christmas movie you can watch with the whole family?  Maybe you have seen White Christmas and It's a Wonderful life and looking for something similar but "new."  It Happened on 5th Ave is your ticket and one of Jamie's favorites too.  It was said that Frank Capra had owned the rights to this movie and eventually let it go - it has his feel.   So put on a pot of slumgullion and relax on the couch and get ready for a great night!

This gem of a movie has a similar spirit to It's a Wonderful Life, but maybe without the intensity.  Mr. Mckeever (above left) keeps the dust off Mike O'Connor's (pictured on the right) clothes while Mike is south for the winter.  He also smokes his cigars ;)  Though Mr. McKeever is an uninvited guest, he seems to be just what the O'Connor family needs.  This friendship is a path to heaven -- and this movie is a sweet addition to your family movie nights during the Advent and Christmas season!

Warning:  The O'Connor's are separated (part of the premise) - just a heads up so parents can make a decision about who can watch what in the family.

Some other new additions:  Captain Courageous and a two disc special of Jumani - both with The Rock and crew (borrow it before Paulie takes them back to college with him!)

  1. Thanks, Paul! We’re looking forward to watching this one! We just watched “The Shop Around the Corner” - another B/W Christmas movie that I think you guys would like too!

  2. That is one that is on the list to add to the library ;) The Shop Around the Corner was the inspiration for You've Got Mail (in the library, and one of Chris Kelly's favorites!!!)
