Studio Ghibli

Hayao Miyazaki is a master story teller and does so with richness and beauty.  I will try not to inundate you with full length anime movies in the collection, but I believe his works are worth watching.  

One highlight today is The Wind Rises.  I have been asked to point out some of the romance movies in the collection and I think this movie may be perfect not only for the engineer in your life, but the romantic.  Some folks can not get past the notion that animation is for children, but if you are willing to give it a shot you will see one of the few hand drawn movies in recent history and you will see beauty.  

Mr. Miyazaki, a pacifist, brilliantly tells the story of the engineer behind the Japanese fighter plane - the Zero.  

The story of Jiro's passion for design and for the love of his life is best incapsulated in one of his dreams with his hero Giovanni Caproni asking him -- "Would you like to live in a world with or without pyramids."  This question is at the heart of both Jiro's creation of the Zero and also with the woman who becomes his wife, both are focal points in the movie and both facing similar conclusions.    

This may not be a kids movie, but kids of all ages should be able to view.  PG-13 rating is primarily for tobacco use throughout.  There is some blood spit up from a TB cough, and there are a few war images, but very viewable for even Salvatore.  

It is my hope that you fall in love with Hayao Miyazaki's films.  Happy watching!
