Let's highlight a few films in the lead up to St Patrick's day. First, an animated film for the whole crew. Cartoon Saloon, animators based in Ireland, created a series of films dubbed the "Irish Folklore Trilogy." "Song of the Sea" takes on the legend of the selkie's (mythological creatures that can shift between seals and humans) told through a family who have fallen on hard times do to the separation from their mother / wife.
The animation is hand drawn, made by man, not machine, and is beautiful. The animation does take some getting used to, but mixed with the music and the wonderful voice acting this film has character. There are struggles that all the characters go through, and some may be a little frightening to younger children, so please read before you watch. I would also encourage some background explanations on the legend of the selkies before watching. Hope you enjoy!
