What a great month of movie watching!
First, if I may recommend for family movie nights "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty." This movie was looking for the truth, always saw the good, and was beautifully filmed. In many ways this movie is perfect to family movie night, exciting and on message. The foreign lands that it takes you too was much like what Lucas did in Star Wars and added a sense of wonder. My favorite scene was definitely the skate board scene in Iceland with the band Junip playing in the background!
Movies to watch with teenagers for discussion: Whit Stillman's, "Damsels in Distress!" I believe there are a few Whit Stillman fans in our Co-op, the dialogue is tight and sharp. Please expect maximum dry humor with some grand ironies that will stay with you for a while. Recommended for those in college or going to college - my guess is you will begin to see your fellow students in a new categorical light. And don't just take my word for it. Warning: Adult subjects done tastefully and with class. The wrongs that were portrayed were done in a way that made them the way that they should be seen -- ridiculous and insane!
"The Scarlett and The Black" -- as poor as the music was in this film, it does not distract from the film. This movie will stick with you, and is worth watching with the whole family depending on the sensitivity of you young kids. It probably should be said that everyone should see this movie..... Also, having looked to buy this film years ago and unable to find on DVD and it was no where to be found... I found it! Rent it!
